There are literally dozens of great golf courses in the state of Washington. But, it’s quite possible that there is none better — none more universally praised — than the Olympic Course at Gold Mountain.

Of course, that’s not just our opinion — nearly 20,000 Cascade Golfer readers and CascadeGolfer.com users have logged their opinions in the 2012 Muckleshoot Casino Match Play Madness, our year-long quest to crown the state’s best course. And of the 32 courses that started out in the running, only heavyweights Chambers Bay and Semiahmoo have received more total votes than John Harbottle’s famed Peninsula design.

On Saturday, golfers will have the chance to find out for themselves what all the fuss is about when

the Cascade Golfer Cup comes to Olympic for its sixth event of the year, the Michelob ULTRA Open. Featuring up to 64 teams and scored in both net and gross formats, the Michelob ULTRA open will prize out up to 20 teams in the field — one of which will take home stay-and-play packages to Las Vegas AND Palm Springs, including two nights and three twosomes in each desert locale! Use them separately, or combine them for one incredible offseason desert golf getaway!

Golf starts at 8 a.m., with check-in open at 6. In addition to the grand prize, other teams will be eligible to win stay-and-plays to Vegas, Coeur d’Alene and the L.A. area, goilf at top local tracks, shoes, clubs, Seahawks tickets and more! There will also be closest-to-the-pin, long drive and straightest drive contests, a post-round meal, and much more!

Teams will also earn points towards the season-long Cascade Golfer Cup and the overall grand prize— the 2013 Summer Golf Package, featuring 20 twosomes at the top courses in the state! Two-time champs Jeff Van de Mark and Marc Medley currently hold the lead, but with two events left — and point values worth 1.5 at the year-end “major” at Chambers Bay in three weeks’ time— it’s still all to be decided.

The Michelob ULTRA Open will be played in a shamble format, a fun format that combines team play with the chance to play your own ball on almost every shot. Both players hit tee shots — then, the team picks the best ball and each player plays their own ball from that spot through the hole, with the lowest of the two scores being recorded as the team score. It’s a fun format for players of all skill levels — and especially great for those teams with one strong driver!

Registration for the Michelob ULTRA Open is $260 per team, and is open to any golfer with a verifiable handicap. And with 15 net prizes and five gross prizes, everyone has a chance to win!  REGISTER TODAY!
