Kirk Shults & Joedon Terry Take Home
CG Players Championship
Yet another new winning team was crowned at Saturday’s event, with Kirk Shults and Joedon Terry winning the Cascade Golfer Player’s Championship at Druids Glen. Playing a Chapman format, the twosome shot a Gross 71/Net 61 to win both the Net and Gross divisions beating out a field of 80 players. Not only do they take home an amazing four-night golf package to Las Vegas for their net title, but with the win they vault from 9th to first in the overall Cascade Golfer Cup Standings (net), leading the battle for the season ending prize, the 2013 Summer Golf Package (20 twosomes from around the northwest).
Starting on hole 16, Shults and Joedon started out consistently making gross pars on their first 6 holes. They got hot, however, making birdies on three consecutive par 4’s to close the front nine. Their gross 71 was 4 shots better than the team of Jeff Van de Mark and Marc Medley, the series’ previous leader, who drop back to 2nd place overall. Second net Saturday was the husband and wife team of Craig and Michaele Olsen (62), followed by Roland Dipietto and Kevin Giboney (63), Drew Hubbard and Andrew Houtrouw (64) while Gary Lee and Steve Honn (64) rounding out the top 5.
