How To Hit Approach Shots Into the Wind

While the wind isn’t blowing as hard this week at Carnoustie as it often does during an Open Championship, the winning player will certainly be one who knew how to handle those iconic U.K. breezes.

Of course, the Open isn’t the only place where wind comes into play — as anyone who has ever played at Bandon Dunes, or teed off on any of our Central Washington courses after about 2 p.m. can attest. So, what can we do to keep our approach shots on-target (and at the right distance) when the wind picks up? Here’s Mark Crossfield with a few tips to keep in mind.
