How to Generate Backspin on Chips

One of the worst feelings in golf is to find yourself just off the green, with little green to work with short of the pin, and the green surface sloping away from you. “How am I going to get this to stop?” is a common refrain in these scenarios. You can try landing it on the fringe or, if your lie is clean enough, maybe even putting, to save speed … or, you can try doing what the pros do, and adding just enough backspin to your shot to slow it down as it approaches the hole.
