Callaway Solaire II Ladies Set
Puetz Golf Price: 14-piece full set: $898.95,
9-piece executive set: $598.95
In the five years we’ve been publishing Cascade Golfer, we’ve been consistently pleased by the number of responses we’ve gotten from female golfers to stories, tournaments, or even Facebook interaction. Roughly 1 out of 5 golfers in the United States is female, though our feedback would tend to indicate that number is a little higher here in the Pacific Northwest.
In our August issue — which hits mailboxes and golf shops next week — we take a look at some of the top new sets for women, each featuring lighter, more flexible shafts to increase clubhead speed, and hybrid/iron combinations to maximize performance.
One of our favorites is the new release in Callaway’s popular Solaire line. The original Solaire, released in 2008, combined optimal performance at slower swing speeds with a classic, stylish design. In 2012, Callaway has updated the set with the Solaire II, incorporating into its women’s line the four years’ worth of R&D in game-improvement technology that has seen the company’s drivers and irons shoot to the top of the market.
Including 13-degree driver, three fairway woods, two hybrids, three irons, three wedges, a putter and a classically cool cart bag, it’s among the best-looking — and best performing — sets on the market.
